At Evengrain, we’ve always seen furniture as more than something you live with – it’s part of the architecture of a room, a backdrop to the stories that unfold there.
Spending a week in the studio with artist David Walker felt like a natural extension of that idea.
Across the week, we photographed David’s debut collection of artworks alongside pieces from the Evengrain collection. Rather than placing the paintings in a white-box setting, we used our studio stage – pairing them with mid-century sideboards, dining tables and ceramics, much closer to how you might encounter them at home.

The result is a quiet conversation between materials: brushstrokes and wood grain, colour fields and warm teak, soft light on canvas and on oiled timber.
David’s work shares a lot with the furniture we look for: a respect for craft, a sensitivity to tone and texture, and a calm, thoughtful presence. Nothing shouts; it simply settles into a space and slowly rewards time and attention.

If you’re building a room from scratch or looking for one considered piece to anchor a wall, seeing David’s paintings photographed with our furniture offers a sense of scale, proportion and mood in context.
You can browse his available works here, or get in touch if you’d like to discuss pairing a particular piece with furniture from the showroom.
